Choosing laser toner cartridges

Choosing laser toner cartridges

Laser cartridges to be careful with

Not every print job needs the highest possible quality. A small business printing everyday documents, letterheads or business cards has different needs from a designer or photographer who needs precise colour. Depending on your needs, you might consider original cartridges, remanufactured cartridges or compatible cartridges made for your printer brand.

Laser cartridges are not all the same. Some refilled or remanufactured cartridges are prepared without proper quality control, and some use lower grade toner. It is wise to avoid cartridges of unknown origin. A low purchase price does not always mean a lower overall cost, since a poorly made cartridge can leak toner, give uneven prints or cause wear to parts of your printer. If you are unsure which cartridge suits your printer, it helps to ask before you buy. You can send your printer model to support@maxiprint.co.za.

Cartridges worth considering

Your budget may influence whether you choose OEM or good quality compatible laser cartridges. Before buying a printer, it is worth checking which cartridges it uses and what they cost. Some printers use a single tri-colour cartridge with black supplied separately, while others use a separate cartridge for each colour.

A tri-colour cartridge can look cheaper, but it stops working properly when one colour runs out. Depending on what you print, one colour may run out well before the others, and the remaining colours are then wasted. Thinking about your print volume and the type of documents you print will help you choose the option that suits you.
